Task 2 Research and understanding

Explain the method you used to attract your audience in your As coursework.
To capture my audience in my coursework i had to make choices in camera, editing, mise-en-scene and sound. We were aiming for an audience mostly woman around 20s to 30s so we had to add tecniques so they would show interest.
When i used the camera i did an establishing shot to get an overview, zoomed out shot of where they are. We did this to capture the audience because it does not show to much of what is going but sets the scene so they want to watch on. The other main camera technique that we did was a close up. We did this a few times for example to show who was ringing on his phone and the money in her knickers. This was to give hints of what was going on.
I used a few editing tips on the scene also to add mystery to engage the viewers. We used cross cutting. We did this to show what was happening at the same time for example We wanted the audience to know The woman was getting ready and to assume it was because she knmew about her husband with the prostitute or maybe they did not assume this and was confused so this was engage them to watch on. The main technique we used was dissolving, we used this every shot we did. We used this because we thought that is the scene is unclear they are a a bit unaware of what is going on.
Mise-en-scene was the main technique that we used. We used lots of props such as money to represent she is a prostitute, a phone to show who is ringing, make up to show she is getting ready for something, clothes to show he has changed to go somewhere. The arrangement of the rooms shows who they are, where they are and makes them wonder.
We used non-diagetic sound throughout the opening scene. We had a mysterious sound playing at the beginning and as Lizzie is getitng ready. We picked this as it sound quite creepy nd mysterious. Then we change it when Paddy is with the prostiture, it turns to quite a sexy song.
